Kelly spoke at Lamport Stadium two days after reinstatement with confidential conditions and said he would work to be a better teammate and person. The league had suspended him for nine regular season games and two exhibitions following an independent investigation linked to a separate sexual harassment suit that was settled in June. Oilers weigh cap space as Emberson deal meets new players
Edmonton general manager Bowman says the Oilers will balance a tight salary cap by giving newly acquired players a chance to prove themselves while weighing options including a veteran defenceman. Evander Kane’s $5.125 million cap hit could ride on injured reserve as his return date remains unclear. The club has offered limited market activity, with rare use of offer sheets in NHL history. Meanwhile Philadelphias move to terminate Ryan Johansen’s contract triggers NHLPA review. Seattle signs Matty Beniers to a seven year deal to secure franchise’s top draft pick through 2030-31.
