Disabilities linked to food insecurity in Canada

A Statistics Canada report based on 2021 data finds 26.4 percent of respondents with disabilities faced some level of food insecurity versus 12.5 percent without disabilities. The study notes higher risks even after adjusting for income and demographics, with mobility and healthcare costs cited as key factors impacting access. Rabia Khedr of Disability Without Poverty calls the findings validating and warns the situation may be worse since 2021.

Matsuri Festival Shines in Lakehead’s Second Edition

The Lakehead Japanese Cultural Association held its second Matsuri Festival over the weekend at West Thunder Community Centre in Thunder Bay. Attendees enjoyed martial arts demos dancers and drummers Asian food and goods inside and outside the venue. New Japanese autos and tuner cars were shown and visitors could obtain a next year tattoo real or temporary. The LJCA Matsuri Committee thanks sponsors attendees vendors and exhibitors and promises to see everyone again.
