Light wildfire season in Ontario with small park blaze doused
A tiny forest fire in Sleeping Giant Provincial Park near the park’s southwestern area was declared out Tuesday morning after being sparked by lightning. AFFES said the fire covered less than one hectare, with one firefighting crew on scene. The incident came days after the park marked 80 years of operation and amid four new fires identified on Monday. Overall, AFFES monitored 38 fires, most as observations, with high regional fire risk but no immediate campfire ban announced.
