Death of John W. Power at Fort Benton after illness
John W. Power died at his Fort Benton home Sunday morning after seven weeks with typhoid fever. Born in Dubuque Iowa on April 6 1844 he moved to Fort Benton in 1867 to join his brother in business later banking mining and cattle enterprises. A Roman Catholic and Republican he served eight years as state senator after victories over Duer and McNanara and was regarded as a sound legislator.
