Telephone company plans expansion in county
R F Carney district manager J W Gailey district plant chief and Samuelson foreman for Mountain States Telephone Co met with manager Rittenhouse of the local exchange to discuss improvements. Plans include new lines from Bynum to Agawam and Bynum to Pendroy plus a second copper circuit from Chateau to Great Falls to handle rising toll traffic. Materials are partly at Chateau with most in Great Falls and will be moved here for rapid completion within two months. The Glenloyd hotel hosted an alumni banquet with twenty two members present. Freeman Daley acted as toastmaster and various toasts were given. Bread baking contest teams from several towns shine at local school event
Pupils from Bole Farmington Bynum Perry and Chateau joined about 25 to 50 more from Chateaus schools for a Saturday contest in this city. A central bread baking winner scored 954 points and will represent Teton county at Helena state fair. Nine contestants entered the bread contest along with arithmetic and spelling a tall spelling bee crowned Marion Pridham of Chateau as champion. Local officials credited Grace M Thompson for organizing a successful event and hint at cash prizes next year. A French Canadian, Frank Neadeau, died in the city aged 74 after a long illness and was buried at Chateau cemetery.
