Children Health Tests Aimed To Cut Baby Death Rate
The Children s Bureau under the U S Department of Labor and the Woman s Committee urge parents to enter their children in a nationwide weighing and measuring test begun April 6 as part of the Children s Year campaign to save 100 000 babies. The test assesses health via weight and height and prompts community action to improve welfare and reduce infant mortality. Residents of Choteau Montana are invited to enroll children six months to six years for a health conference at Teton County High School May 22 23 and 24 with enrollment forms funneled through Mrs Mary DeYong, chairman.

Nine Thousand Eligible Men in Montana Await Draft Law
Helena May 13 It is estimated that 9 000 young men who have come of age since June 5 last will be registered under the law now pending in Congress Adjutant Greenan says the war department estimates about 10 per cent of the number registered last year were affected There were 90 000 registrants in Montana under the selective service act Preliminary instructions to local boards outlining registration plans to be used when the bill passes have been sent out by Adjutant Greenan.

Volunteers Sought for Military Service in Teton County
The county board seeks volunteers for two calls: Call No 537 for six stock raisers for the veterinary corps at Camp Lee near Petersburg Virginia and Call No 542 for a one horse driver to the quartermaster corps. Only white men physically qualified will be accepted. Volunteers must apply by May 20. those meeting qualifications will be inducted in order of liability and entrained on June 1.

Conrad prepares tribute for first Eton County WWI fallen son
William M Van Nos born Oct 1 1895 in Acdrewa County left Montana in 1917 joining the Second Contingent. He served as corporal on Long Island and in France before being killed May 1 1918. Conrad plans a memorial service at City Hall May 19 with Brother Van leading, inviting all of Eeton County to honor the county's first war casualty.
