Sugar beet venture may bring factory to local region
Superintendent Lawson and Judge Rolapp met with local business leaders to discuss an experimental sugar beet crop in Teton county and nearby towns. The Great Western Sugar Company plans 300 acres per site at Chateau Fort Shaw and Conrad Walier with a field expert from Colorado to assess soil, climate and profitability and to pave the way for a factory if the tests succeed.

Forest Officers Hold Annual Meeting at Local Forest Office
The Lewis and Clark National Forest officers gathered this week at the local Forest Office in the McDonald block to plan for grazing timber sales watershed protection and improvements for the coming fiscal year. District Forester F A Silcox and Assistant District Forester R H Rutledge attended with Supervisor Dwinelle and other district rangers. A banquet at the Glenloyd cafe followed the sessions and the group looked forward to another meeting next year.

Wool buyers show strong interest as large clips in Teton county change hands. Woman Shoots Husband In Domestic Dispute At Cut Bank
Christ Stilling was wounded by a 22 rifle shot near his Cut Bank farm after an argument with his wife Mrs. Stilling. She claimed self defense saying he was intoxicated and abusive and struck her with a hammer. He was hospitalized with severe injuries and poor odds of recovery.

Beets Planted At Bynum Ranch By Titmus Party
Wm Titmus his wife and two children arrived Monday from Idaho Falls to take charge of the old Trittle Morehouse ranch adjacent to the Bynum Town site. Titmus will plant about 40 irrigated acres with sugar beets this year. The 6000 acre ranch will mainly be used for grain and beet fields as part of Northern Land Co holdings.
