The New Mercantile Co opened today in the McDonald block, Chateau. The remodeled building features a corner Main avenue and First street entrance with full display windows and a dedicated ladies fitting room. Early Saturday morning a major blaze wiped out the Vinson and Stillman restaurant and lodging house on Central Avenue in Fairfield. The fire is blamed on stove pipe damage, with an estimated loss around 2900 dollars partially covered by insurance.

Adams Ends His Life With Shotgun Action
Richard B E Adams of Sun River ended his life yesterday around noon using a shotgun. He left no note or clear reason and was found by authorities at 6 p m. Adams, 59, owned a stage line between Augusta and Craig and a ranch near Augusta, with property near Sur River. He is survived by his wife and several siblings and was an Odd Fellow and Mason.
