Pipeline Rates for Cat Creek Oil Transport Set by Montana Board
The Montana Public Utilities Commission set a uniform pipeline rate of 32 1/2 cents per barrel for transporting Cat Creek crude to Winnett, rejecting Elk Basin’s 15 cent rate as inadequate. Both Elk Basin Consolidated Petroleum and Montana Independent Pipe Line are deemed common carriers under state law. The order requires five days’ storage and loading facilities at Winnett and notes 32 1/2 cents is closer to fair compared to other fields, with the commission cautioning rates are provisional and subject to proof of operating costs.
