Revival of Dearborn county plan drawn from Cascade and Lewis and Clark
Great Falls Montana June 8 The movement to create Dearborn county from Cascade and Lewis and Clark counties has been revived with representatives studying the district's assessed valuation. The proposed county would span about 1000 square miles, remove several townships from Cascade and Lewis and Clark, and center on Cascade. 625 Cascade county voters are in the district with 162 in Cascade. 58 percent of last election voters must sign the petition. The boundary excludes Simms Fort Shaw and Hotterdam. The idea was previously opposed by Lewis and Clark officials who feared losing about 1 million in assessed valuation.
