State sues Cascade Silver Mines over polluted Belt creek
The Montana attorney general filed an injunction suit in Lewis and Clark County against Cascade Silver Mines and Mills Co of Neihart alleging mine tailings pollute Belt creek killing fish and making water unfit for livestock. The state seeks ownership of the fish and water rights and argues pollution can be remedied cheaply, while Cascade contends purification would cost about 300000.
