Local county financial figures spark boozy investigation debate
The Choteau Montanan reports county clerk records show 1918 to 1921 salaries and jail expenses declining while mileage rose in 1920 and fell in 1921, noting a $38,465 alcohol investigation expense and asserting no candidate was targeted. The piece defends journalistic credibility and cites Montana Taxpayers' Association data.

Teton Threshers Cut Prices On Wheat Per Bushel
At a meeting of the Teton County Threshermen Association held at Chateau a decision was reached to reduce threshing prices by 2 3 4 cents per bushel. New rates are 12 4 cents per bushel with crew and 6 1/2 cents without crew. Farmers opposed the higher charges noting the crop returns would have left threshermen with about one sixth of profits at current wheat prices. The Teton County high school opens the first Tuesday after Labor Day Sept 5 and the public school Sept 11. County Attorney Magee attended a political meeting last evening. George, an elder attorney, is popular with many supporters. The Herald predicts he will handle county legal affairs for the next two years. J L Collings, Democratic sheriff candidate, visited Chateau Sunday.
