Beets Grow Effort Near Conrad Under Western Sugar Plan
Agriculturist A M A Henderson of the Great Western Sugar Company and P Kelly of Pondera Valley State Bank spent days in Conrad securing five and ten acre beet contracts. Farmers welcomed the test, tilled ideal land, and seeding is set between April 25 and May 19. Success here could supply a factory with a sizable beet crop. Henderson plans to spend the summer in the area.

Boy Shot Accidentally By Brother in Sunday Playing
A twelve year old, Aubrey Peters, was shot in the stomach with a .22 rifle by his younger brother while playing in the yard Sunday. Medical aid came quickly, the wound is small and the boy is out of danger, father J H Peters was summoned from Boulder Springs and arrived home Tuesday.

The State University of Montana Missoula plans military instruction for all freshmen and sophomores beginning 1916 17 with an army officer to teach. A Missoula recruiting station will open under T C Spaulding and Lieutenant Ellsworth Mosby assisting recruitment for the Montana second infantry. The rifle club gains use of Fort Missoula range as members acquire ammunition and equipment for ongoing drills.

Montana State college defeated Idaho University by a 2 to 1 vote on Friday in Bozeman. The issue was whether a system of compulsory voting should be adopted. The winning team argued the negative. Members were David Ray Robert Ray and Lee Park. Idaho debaters were Koch Dingle and Sandelius. Judges were Montana Supreme Court Justices Brantley and Piggott and attorney Pennington of Butte.

State University Wins Navy Debate Over Oregon Pair
The State University team Payne Sempleton and Stewart McHattie defeated Lloyd Dawson and Walter Meyers of the University of Oregon by a unanimous judges decision. The contest, on the question Should the United States Maintain a Navy Above Third-Rate Lieutenant proficiency, was held at the First Methodist Episcopal church with a crowded auditorium. the negative side won.

Elevators Planned Near Great Falls Under Montana Mills Contract
C. R. McClare, general manager of Montana Flour Mills, announced that two of ten grain elevators will be built at Hobson and Moccasin with H. C. Thompson Construction. The remaining eight locations are to be within 150 miles of Great Falls. Total cost around $60,000, serving the Great Falls milling plant along the Great Northern and Milwaukee railroads.

Many Cattle and Horses Enter Montana From Outside States
Montana reports show over fifteen thousand cattle and six thousand horses brought in by settlers since January 1. March shipments reached 661 and the year total 1,454.
