Wheat Reduction Just Eight Percent

The new wheat allotment amendment signed into law August 29 1949 changes the calculation to include total planted wheat and summer fallow acreage from 1948 or 1949. By the law US agriculture will refigure allotments. Montana expects about 350 000 more acres. Western states gain most from the revision while overall allotment totals rise slightly from 1949 but stay below the 1949 peak.
