Storage Loan Rates Rise for Farm Storage Program
The U S Department of Agriculture increases farm storage loan rates from 6.0 to 8.75 percent and raises required down payments from 15 to 30 percent. Effective for applications filed after Sept 17, 1973, the change reflects higher borrowing costs for CCC and stems from more on farm storage projects. In 1973, 41 046 loans totaling 156.6 million funded 313.5 million bushels of storage. Montana issued 671 loans for 17 million to store 5.6 million bushels.
