Nonpartisan Judiciary Initiated in Montana Elections
In 1936 Montana voters will elect a nonpartisan judiciary for the state supreme court and district courts. Ballots will list candidates alphabetically with only the office stated, no party labels or pledges. The change aims to reduce political influence and avoid landslide effects, though long-standing partisan habits may delay full acceptance.
