Land of the Shining Mountains pageant planned for Teton cha tauqua
Fairfield and Greenfield communities will present a five episode historical pageant titled The Land of the Shining Mountains during the three day cha tauqua October 7 8 and 9. The show covers early Montana exploration fur trade mining government livestock growth and farming with irrigation near Greenfield. The harvest queen will be chosen competitively from eligible project area young women.

Former Chateau Man and World War Veteran Dies in Great Falls
James B. Coe 50 a former Choteau man and World War I veteran died in Great Falls after a brief illness. He served in Company K 16th Infantry 1st Division and was wounded. Burial at Mount Olivet veterans plot. Survivors include two daughters Janett and Geneva Coe of Bozeman two sisters Mrs N H Embody and Mrs J L Fallon and stepfather Cal Stewart.

Three Youths Draw Prison Sentences for Burglary
Three young men pleaded guilty to first degree burglary in district court before Judge Hattersley and were sentenced to two years in Deer Lodge prison. On motion they were admitted to probation after a stern reprimand. Senior Band to Be Symphonic This Year at School
The high school senior band under Irshal Davis grew to forty but lost five members who went to other schools. A $200 education fund funded new instruments including oboe bass clarinet baritone sax tympani, enabling symphonic arrangements. Fairfield voters approved a 55000 bond for a new high school with 261 in favor and 64 against, out of 325 ballots cast from 413 qualified. Public Works Administration has pledged 45000, bringing total to 100000 for the project. The county created the high school district recently and a legal opinion confirms the grade school board will serve as the high school board.

Alterations in Mozer Building Improve Exterior and Interior
The former Hirshberg building, leased by Joe Mozer for his shoe shop and bought last spring, shows a greatly improved exterior with plate glass fronts and ivory painted siding. Exterior walls are being stuccoed while interior work divides the front into two rooms for shop and office use. A new concrete foundation and sidewalk level raise complete the structural updates.

J I Sherburne 87 a Brown ing banter and merchant who followed the frontier from Minneapolis to the Rocky mountains died at his Browning home Sunday. Survivors include two sons J I and F P Sherburne of Browning and three daughters Mrs Agnes Rowell Flint Mrs C BE Frisbee and Mrs Vern J Robinson. Born December 12 1850 in Maine he began westward trek as a boy and later engaged in wagon freighting and Indian trading.
