Forest Ranger reviews Lewis and Clark forest trails and elk
Ranger L H McLean returned after a 10 day inspection of the Lewis and Clark forest. Trail construction totaled eight miles from Red Shale creek to Lick creek as a new secondary route near the Chinese wall. Elk distribution appears wider this season with grazing improvements aiding hunting prospects. Two new fish plantings, 15 000 trout fry each, were added to Lake Levale and Rock creek. Fire danger remains high though no major fires occurred on the district. Landing field at Gates park was lengthened and widened but remains uneven and unsafe for use.
