The Missouri river power plant serving Ruby Gulch and the Cyanide mills at Ruby Gulch above Zortman and Sandusky is being torn down. Built in 1914 by B. D. Phillips for Ruby Gulch Mining Co., it supported 30 to 40 workers with a $4,000 to $5,000 monthly payroll and heavy coal use. Machinery, boilers, and rail shipments from Winifred Malta and Bismarck will be reused at the new Ruby gulch mill under Charles Whitcomb.
