Great Northern Train Robbers Captured

Spokane police believe they have captured C E McDonald and an accomplice tied to the Great Northern Oriental Limited robbery at Rondo early September 12. The two men carried $14 395 in small bills stamped with September 7 and Commercial National Bank Chicago. Prompts from Bonners Ferry residents J Howe and T O Reilly led to the arrest. The suspects spent lavishly in Bonners Ferry, including a $1 000 champagne spree.

Great Northern claim agent settles ranch losses from recent prairie fires at about seven dollars per ton for burned hay. Trains may run Great Falls to Billings by Feb 1 with passenger service by early April. Helena telegraph operators also vote to end their strike with broader national implications for future walkouts. Beaverhead County reports a record lamb sale with 3000 Cotswold March lambs at 1.38 per head and 95 pounds average weight. Western Union Postal and AP operators may strike again if the telegraphers' prospects brighten nationally.
