Rice Funeral Held Monday in Virginia City
Lester Sampson Rice 56 of Virginia City died last Thursday of a heart attack in East Glacier. Funeral services were conducted here Monday with Rev. Grant S Moore officiating. He was born October 3 1898 in Maryville Missouri and worked as a carpenter. Survivors include his widow a son James Robert a twin brother Chester D and brothers William E and sister Bessie Fero plus several nieces nephews and cousins. Burial followed at Chateau cemetery with Banks Funeral Home in charge. Relatives from distant towns attended the service.

Sheriff A O Peterson received notice that George Heiser Ddn Smith and Viola Grinsteiner are active in Hettinger North Dakota. Bad checks similar to those written in Montana have been passed in Williston Dickinson and Hettinger. The trio, jailed in Chateau for issuing bad checks, escaped from Teton county jail on Oct 2 and are wanted in several places. The sheriff suspects they may have circled back into Montana.
