Former Acantha Employee Killed in Auto Wreck

Plentywood October report states Roger Burke longtime Montana newspaper man and Sheridan County Farmer associate editor died instantly in a Redstone automobile wreck Monday night. Burke edited papers at Sidney Wolf Point Red Lodge and other Montana towns in recent years. He worked briefly for The Acantha in Chateau and later left for the Carbon County Chronicle at Red Lodge. He leaves a wife and two children.

Saylor Announces Helena State Fair Awards for Teton County

County Superintendent Edythe Saylor lists Teton county district school entries that won prizes at the Helena state fair. General exhibits include best village schools and two-teacher schools with top placements in sewing, hand work, and manual training. individual exhibits note dolls Tam o Shanter, arithmetic hooklets, and farm carpentry. Dixon and Linderman Will Speak Here

Governor Joseph M. Dixon plans October 23 campaign talks in Teton county to outline his stance on state questions. He will address meetings in Chateau and other venues, with plans announced next Thursday. On November 3 Frank B. Linderman will discuss national issues at Chateau, joined by another Republican speaker.

Republicans Hold Enthusiastic County Campaign Meeting

Members of the Republican county central committee and candidates met at the courthouse last Saturday afternoon with Chairman O C Meadows presiding. They planned to carry the entire ticket through every precinct and appointed precinct sub committee women to aid. Unqualified support for the Republican ticket was pledged. Posters announced the Scott Leavitt meeting in Chateau Monday evening to mobilize a large opening rally turnout.

Local Boy Walter Cohoe Wins State Fair Clay Modeling Praise

Walter Cohoe, son of Mr and Mrs K B Cohoe of Chateau, earned five ribbons and a special 3 prize recommendation from state fair judges for his clay modeling. County Superintendent Edythe Saylor noted there was no class for clay modeling in school exhibits. She praised his talent and predicted future impact with training.
