4-H Club Fair Draws Enthusiasts in County

The third annual 4-H club fair Saturday drew many exhibitors and visitors though attendance lagged behind prior years due to fewer clubs in the county. Baby beef display won blue and red ribbons for steers fed by Lowry Larson, with a white ribbon calf belonging to Bertram Moon.

Friends Bid Fond Farewell to Mrs Pridham and Family

A farewell surprise at Social Center hall drew a hundred or more friends as the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Luke's church honored Mrs. T. H. Pridham. Speakers included Rev Fr J F Schutte Sen T O Larson B I Packer and George A Carroll. The Pridhams plan to move to Oakland California where Mr Pridham will finish his law studies at Georgetown alumnus.

Teton Wing 40-0 Victory Over Power Friday

Teton county high school dominated Power Friday afternoon at Power with a 40 to 0 win. The game featured early fumbles, multiple TDs by Barles and later two more by local players in the third quarter, and a cautious final period on a dusty field. Lions club provided transport for the team and Dutton looms next.

Lions Civic Benefit Dance Promises Car Door Prize

The Woman's club met at the grade school auditorium Tuesday evening for a two part musical program directed by Mrs. Edna K. Lawson and Mrs. R. I. Nelson. Part I featured Indian and Negro music, Part II featured music from across the seas with pieces from England Wales Germany Scotland Russia Spain France and America.

Registration totals for Teton county in 1980 election

The county clerk reports 2859 registered voters in Teton for the November 8 general election. Compared to 2442 two years earlier, Fairfield precinct ranks second with 427 and Dutton third with 201. Chateau precincts one and two total 836.

Hoffman Charged With First Degree Murder in District Court

George Hoffman faces a first degree murder charge in district court here for the killing of George Burrell. County Attorney B I Parker obtained leave to file an information, with Judge R M Hattersley presiding. Witnesses listed include Henry Burrell Jess Davis Chas G Roberts W H Geehn W A Emerick and Dr H W Bateman. Arrraignment date is not yet set. Also noted are a Oct 15 benefit dance and a petition for administration of Burrell estate filed by Alex Burrel with attorney George M Coffey. Art Pearson of Dupuyer admitted to Maynard hospital for treatment.

Turkey School To Resume Meetings Next Thursday Evening

The Turkey Evening School of Teton County High School will reconvene Thursday October 18 at 7 45 PM in the high school building. Under supervision of M C Knox this fall session will cover fattening turkeys for market preparation of birds for sale and the marketing association.

Golden Wedding of Mr and Mrs Monroe Celebrated

Mr and Mrs C Y Monroe, longtime Teton county ranchers west of Chateau, were honored in Great Falls last Saturday for their golden wedding. Married October 1, 1882 at Fort Benton, they later moved west of Chateau and then to Great Falls in 1917.

Mrs Arnold Hanusa defeats Mrs R F Baillie in a Sunday playoff to claim the Chateau Country Club women’s championship after a 9-9 tie at the 18th hole. Crary wins first flight title over LaValle, with Bateman and Core in semifinals. Meda McLean takes second flight, Jacobson runner up.

Death of Mrs Alfred Harris from car crash in Los Angeles

Mrs Alfred Harris dies of heart failure after an automobile collision in Los Angeles. Her husband and Eva Davis among others were unharmed. a nurse was injured. Harris relatives include Julius Hirshberg of this city and a son Joseph in Chicago. Harris native of Germany, aged about 65, was a Montana merchant.

Head Of Farm Union Talk At Local Meeting

J T Kelly state president of the farmers Educational and Cooperative union spoke to a small turnout in Great Falls Friday about cooperative farming, farm holiday movement and local Farm Holiday units. He cited savings and dividends from farm oil companies and urged strengthening local unions to raise farm prices for national benefit. A mass meeting for a local unit was planned with W I Wellenstein appointing a committee. John A Simpson of Oklahoma City will visit Great Falls October 11 for a talk over KIFRB.
