Hog Producer No Longer Held For The Process Tax
Lewis Penwell, collector of internal revenue for Montana, announces amended regulations effective November 1, 1934. A hog producer is no longer the first domestic processor for sales to packers, meat markets, restaurants, or similar buyers. The buyer becomes the processor and must pay the tax on the live weight at slaughter, 32 percent higher than dressed weight. Mr. Penwell advocated the change.
