Cattle Shipments and Fatal Crossing Crash Near Choteau
Rail shipments from Kaufman Meat Co. of Orinoco Mont. moved over 2000 head of cattle to Milwaukee and nearby ranch markets. A Tuesday load carried 1000 head in 38 cattle cars while a Sunday train delivered over 1000 head in 34 cars. Jim Peters supervised fattening operations for late sale. A fatal collision at Vaughn railroad crossing killed Albert Krsul and Mrs. Caroline Rinker, both Lewiston residents, as a stock train bound for Choteau passed.

Harry Porter Ends 51 Years With Great Northern at Chateau
Harry Porter, long time Chateau station agent since 1917, retires after 51 years of service. Carl Gulbrandsen of Pendroy will replace him, bringing many years at the Great Northern to Chateau. Porter saw shipments double, mainly wheat and livestock, and recalls past daily passenger and mixed trains, the shift away from passenger service, and the Galloping Goose engine over his career.

Missing Navy Flyer Arnold Neiswender Plane disappearance
Lieutenant Arnold Neiswender, son of Mr and Mrs Frank Neiswender of Collins, is reported missing in Washington or Idaho after a routine flight from Seattle on November 4. A University of Washington student, he recently received his commission and was a top graduate. His wife Billie, formerly of Corpus Christi, Tex, lives in Seattle. Navy officials will wire the parents if new information arrives.
