Streeter Named Fuel Administrator During Coal Strike

Mayor Morgan appoints C. L. Streeter as fuel administrator to manage coal parcels where needed. One car of coal reached Chateau since the strike began and was distributed to farmers. Although the strike is officially over, some miners may not return to work and conditions may take weeks to normalize.

Mrs Rienks Dies of Pneumonia in Montana

Annie Reinks nee Kleyn died at City Hospital after an eight day pneumonia. She was thirty one years seven months two days old and a native of Holland who came to Montana seven years ago. Survived by Klaig Reinks husband and two daughters aged three and five. Funeral conducted from Connor parlors with Rev. Harvey T. Strong officiating.

Wells-Dickey Co bid high school bond issue in Teton county

Wells-Dickey Co of Minneapolis won the one hundred thousand dollar Teton county high school bond issue. The commissioners sold the bonds last Thursday at 4 1/4 percent interest and a premium of 2170, signaling strong investor confidence in the county credit. Larger premiums have occurred in the state with higher interest rates.

JUDGE JOHN ERICKSON NAMED TO MONTANA SUPREME BENCH

Judge John E. Erickson of Kalispell has been appointed associate justice of the state supreme court by Governor Stewart to fill the vacancy created by Justice George Y. Patten’s resignation. Erickson, long known in this region, began law in Chateau and has twice served as county attorney of Teton County and as district judge. Armistice Day Attack in Centralia Ends in Mob Hanging

Four American Legion men are dead and several wounded after an IWW attack on a Centralia Armistice Day parade. Britt Smith, secretary of the IWW local, is hanged from a Chehalis river bridge by a mob. The IWW hall is gutted and lights go out citywide as armed authorities guard prisoners. Witness Bob Burrows describes the hanging and gunfire near the river.

Mine Workers to Comply With Court Mandate Ending Strike

Indianapolis Nov 11 The United Mine Workers general committee voted to obey the court mandate ending the nationwide bituminous coal strike. John L Lewis announced the decision saying they would comply under protest. The order must be drafted for court approval by 10 this morning and sent to members by 6 this evening.
