Must Pay the Cost of Maintenance on West Reclamation
Washington May 26 More than 10 000 farmers on western reclamation projects face paying government costs for maintenance and operation after a Supreme Court ruling. The decision upholds charges imposed in 1902 and supports collection efforts as of now nearly a million dollars already collected with about half a million more due. Justice Lamar announced a unanimous decision finding Congress intended settlers to cover upkeep costs.
