A Monday night card party and program at Chateau high school featured talks and toasts, highlighted by J. C. Morgan delivering an original poem. The verse praises city virtues from water and sidewalks to schools, railroads, banks, and clubs, and urges residents to invest and work hard for a bright future.
The Commercial club met Monday evening and discussed community topics. Boy Scout work was raised with several men suggested to lead the local patrol, but no plan was made and the project was tabled for a future meeting. Members adjourned early for a Woman's Club card party at the high school.
Civil actions filed this past week with Clerk B. M. Jacobson include F. W. Reeve’s foreclosure suit against Edward Beech Carrie Beech and Ray R. Porter. The case seeks mortgage foreclosure. Ed. Fearon represents the matter against all persons claiming.
In the court actions, F. W. Reeve sues Kenneth Cohoe and others to quiet title on real property and mortgage foreclosure. Eighth grade examinations are set for May 27 28 in Bynum Dutton and Chateau with a schedule of Civics History Grammar Reading Arithmetic Spelling Physiology Geography and Agriculture. Ruth Sweat is the County Superintendent of Schools. first publication May 20 last May 27. A dance is announced at Burd Hill school Carson District 1 on Saturday evening May 99.
