Onions must be cured to dry and harden the outer scales before storage. If dry weather and no frost threat, cure in the garden by pulling bulbs with tops and letting them dry for a few days. If frost or rain threatens, cure in a shed or garage on a ventilated floor or crates, then trim tops and store in a dry place at about 40 degrees. Thick necks or soft rot bulbs should be separated and used first.
