Miss Marybelle Peterson daughter of Mr and Mrs Obert Peterson will travel to Salt Lake City Utah next Monday to wed Dan Morris of Sacramento California on Monday. After the ceremony they will reside in Sacramento where Morris works in an airplane factory. Miss Peterson is a 1932 Tet on high school graduate and 1936 Intermountain college alumna. She later served as assistant supervisor of schools in Haines Alaska and taught at Nashua Montana and University of Washington before joining Teton high school faculty.
County Agent S N Halvorson reports broad seed acreage increases for 1942 across wheat flax feed crops sugar beets peas and hay with irrigated lands seeing notable gains. Moisture is generally good though topsoil baking challenged seed beds. Livestock condition is strong and water storage on projects is above last year.
The local Lions club marks its 15th annual charter night next Tuesday at Moose Hall starting 7 p m with a dinner and program. Ladies invited, invitations sent to nearby clubs, and many expect to attend as members are urged to participate.
The Lions Club plans a White Elephant sale at Chateau residents to raise funds for civic projects including the swimming pool and tennis courts. E L Kieffman and R E Nelson lead the committee. residents will donate unwanted items for auction with trucks provided for collection. Proceeds go to the Lions civic fund. Call 118J or 54W to donate. Auction date to be announced.
The local draft board will alter its schedule by changing meetings from Wednesdays to Fridays. This shift ends a long standing practice and affects personnel who attend.
A produce truck carrying about 200 cases of eggs crashed into an irrigation ditch near a bridge south of Fairfield on Wednesday evening around 6 pm. Driver Burt Hamen and passenger Lawrence Casey reported brake cable failure. both men from Spokane. Highway patrol cleared Hamen of negligence. load fully insured with little loss expected.
Pvt John L Sulgrove writes from Sheppard Field Texas April 30 detailing two weeks at a new air mechanics school eight months of study crammed into nine months, strict Air Corps standards, plans for possible piloting, rough Texas dust, weekend visits to Wichita Falls, and updates from home and friends Ted and Grace.
Gale Ballard's pickup tire flat led to a remarkable repair at Rice Auto Court. Tom Dellno applied 55 patches to the inner tube, which, though pockmarked, held air after the patchwork.
Eight students from Teton county high school received $50 awards at Thursday evening commencement, for citizenship improvement, funded by the Heisey Foundation of Great Falls. Winners include Herbert Anderson, Beverlee Schmitz, Donald Nordhagen, Paul Vick, Donald Rice, Helen Mancoronal, Dorothy Dale, and Harriet Olson. Scholastic honors went to Bill Reiquam and Lila Reiquam as valedictorian and salutatorian. The program featured talks and music by the graduates. no principal speaker was scheduled.
The State Commission released big game regulations with seasons and county areas to be printed in a booklet in about two weeks. Open fishing runs May 24 to November 15 daily from 6 am to 10:30 pm MW T. Bag limit 15 fish or 15 pounds plus one fish. up to five under seven inches. Perch sunfish bullheads 50 daily. Whitefish season May 24 to Aug 31. reopen Dec 1 to Mar 15, 1948. County rules to be announced later.
Tickets remain for the mother daughter banquet set for 6 30 p m at the Methodist church this Thursday evening. A fine program is planned and a large crowd is expected.
High school music instructor G Emerson Miller began city band rehearsals on Wednesday evening with a nucleus from the high school band plus former members. The first concert is set for Main Avenue this Saturday at 7 30 PM. A rehearsal Friday at 7 30 PM at the high school is planned and attendance is urged for alumni and former band members to form a summer musical organization in Chateau.
K. E. Sturgis was appointed county chairman of the Citizens Navy Relief committee by Gov. Ford. Joe Markham of the Montana Standard discussed fundraising with Sturgis as he plans local committee appointments. The society aids dependent widows, mothers of deceased officers, and orphaned children of Navy and Marine personnel. funds are raised locally through events and donations after Pearl Harbor losses strained the fund.
War Savings quotas rising sharply. Montana administrator William H. Bartley reports state quota set at 2,785,000 with Teton county May target 16,800. Previous averages for July 1941 to January 1942 show state 2,001,311 and county 11,299 monthly. July state quota boosted to 4,902,000 and county to 36,100. A C Hanusa, Teton county War Savings chairman, notes the sharp increase.
A. W. Walker, Sun River irrigation superintendent, informs the Montana Fish and Game Commission that fishing hunting and boating are barred near Gibson Reservoir Pishkun Canal and Sun River area from one mile above Gibson Dam to one mile below the Sun River Diversion Dam and at Pishkun and Willow Creek reservoirs. The ban aims to protect project works from depredation or sabotage.

The first ladies golf luncheon of the season is planned for next Wednesday, May 18, at 1 15 PM, weather permitting. Organizers note a possible change if conditions worsen.
