Eureka and Willow Creek Reservoirs Stocked With Rainbows Near Chateau
Montana Fish and Game, via Lowell Meyers, reports Eureka and Willow Creek Reservoirs received nearly 200000 Rainbow trout last week. Plantings include 104480 two to three inch Rainbows in Eureka and 86800 more, plus 200000 Rainbows in Willow Creek Reservoir. This marks the largest allocations to these waters, as drought limits nearby lakes. The shift aims to produce multiple two pound fish rather than few large fish, with poison/restock done last October to allow outlet-work by the Teton Cooperative Canal Co. Legal-size stock is expected by August or September. streams will wait until late June for new plantings. A Crazy Days event with breakfast, live turkeys, greased pigs, draws, matinee for kids, and donor efforts by local merchants is planned, with the chamber committee coordinating.
