Will Limit Paved Roads Chief Engineer Proposes Gravel Base
Will Limit Paved Roads Chief Engineer John Edy of the state highway commission recommends no paved wearing surfaces this year except selected projects. Grading and graveling should be completed to allow traffic for a year as a sub-base for higher surface, to cut concrete costs. The plan aims at ultimate economy, with cement prices rising. Gravel roads will provide a serviceable base in one to three years without heavy depreciation.
