The legislature in Helena concluded its session with actual appropriations of 6,132,300. An additional 185,000 is estimated for 1931 operations plus about 250,000 in interest and other expenses, totaling roughly 6,567,300 against a two year general fund. Projected revenues total 6,460,550, leaving a deficit of 106,750.
The appropriation and expense estimates exceed revenues by 106 750 with Governor Erickson noting revenue forecasts are hard to pin down. He cites conservative estimates to curb large spending and highlights copper price gains and mine taxes as possible boosts while noting potential breakeven.
