Senate Backs Down On Mill Levy Increase In State Budget
The House proposed a half mill increase in the state general levy for two years, but the measure failed in the Senate. Senators Wuerthner and Larson opposed, arguing unconstitutionality and potential defeat of 1930 referendum measures, including a 5 mill state tax after 1930 and a $3,000,000 bond issue. The levy remains at 4.333 mills for the next biennium.
