Kingston Dock Fire Devastates Glasgow Port Center
A massive fire tore through Kingston dock in central Glasgow on June 20, leaving the harbor in ruins. Official damage is pegged at 1 250 000 pounds, with the dock costing 750 000 and numerous recent alterations and improvements lost. Undermined quays collapsed into the water as girders and sheds roofs fell, disrupting the harbor operations.
