David Wipf ten-year-old Hutterite boy drowned when a horse and buggy toppled crossing the fast moving Teton river nine miles east of Chateau. Rescue efforts by hundreds failed to locate the body as nets, boats, and rope lines were used and river current repeatedly swept away.

Cloudburst Delivers .69 Inch Rain and Hail in Choteau
A cloudburst in Choteau last night dumped .69 of an inch of rain in about an hour with heavy hail. The month’s first half totals 3.49 inches since June 1. Hail was scattered in the county. crops largely escaped damage though gardens and leafy plants were harmed in Choteau.

Guy T Newman Dies at 65 in Great Falls
Guy T Newman 65 formerly of Pendroy died at his Great Falls home last Sunday. A rancher in Pendroy until retiring in 1948 he was born October 27 1884 in Isabelle Kansas and came to Montana in 1914. He is survived by his wife Blanche and four daughters Mrs Olive Passmore San Antonio Mrs Madge Fochtman Great Falls Mrs Pete Falardeau Great Falls and Mrs Emmett Sullivan Dupuyer.

Helpers Sought to Erect Lights for Choteau Rodeo
The Choteau rodeo committee asks volunteers to help erect light poles for evening performances on July 3 and a day show on July 4. Helpers are needed every night through July 1 at 7:30 PM, with options for day and evening shifts, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. Herman Bouma Dies At Home In Conrad
Herman C. Bouma 50 died at his Conrad home after long illness. Born in Chicago he came to Montana in 1904 with his parents and lived on the Burton ranch north of Chateau before moving to Chateau and later to Conrad in 1927. Survivors include his widow and son LeRoy. Funeral services were held last Saturday.
