Farmers Meeting in June to Organize Federal Farm Bureau

Government campaigns in Teton county call farmers to a series of meetings in mid to late June to form a Federal Farmers association known as the Farm Bureau SF. Experts, including Uncle Sam Hampton, will speak at venues from Fairfield to Chateau about organizing, with dates and locations listed and urging every farmer to attend.

Red Cross fund drive items and nursing school appeal

An Agawant and Brady Baptist church fundraiser raised 25.50 funds for a Red Cross drive. Donations included 110 from Plum merton, with 100 from a dance and the rest for memberships. The Royal theater will show Humanity's Appeal courtesy of Mrs. Crary on Friday the 14th. Annie W. Goodrich, newly appointed dean of the Army School of Nursing, issues a nationwide call for young women to join hospital effort in military or civil service.

Chateau Council of Defense organized at Moose Hall

A meeting of Chateau residents formed the Chateau Council of Defense to protect property and mobilize resources. A temporary organization was set, a constitution drafted, and officers elected, including President Gregue and Secretary Hall, with meetings to be held on the first and third Fridays each month.

War Savings Day meeting places listed by district

Four meeting places across the region are designated for National War Savings Day on June 28, 1918. The notice lists school houses and local halls as district venues with clerks named for each location, directing attendees to the designated site in their district or a joint meeting point.

District Court Proceedings Highlight Several Convictions

The district court's recent session saw Henry Cominissee sentenced to 2 to 4 years for grand larceny. Others included Guilty pleas by Freeman Currie and Ernest Resenthal for grand larceny, plus multiple hearings on rape, robbery, and blue sky stock charges. Several cases were dismissed or continued, with trials scheduled for June 17 and Monday.

Valier and Chateau Help Soldiers With Fund Drive

ASSIST FINANCIALLY BE. E. Leech and J. E. Sproat from Valier donated 200 to the Soldiers Relief fund for entertaining departing soldiers. Chateau residents appreciate the Valier business leaders and pledge continued support as groups have supplied troops with comforts and supplies. A film titled The German Curse in Russia shows at the Royal theater on June 18, five reels, 20 cents to 40 cents admission, as a morale event for the troops awaiting departure.

Episcopal Church Notes and Camp Lewis Entrains

Sunday school will meet June 16 and 23 with Mr Spencer in charge and opening at noon. Pastor Mr Haley will preach at the new church on June 16 in Missoula and attend the annual conference on June 23, reporting proceedings on June 30. Convicts Arrested in Store Break-In Near Miss

Sheriff’s deputies captured Earl Garrett of Conrad and Joseph Jacobs of Missoula, both parolees from the state penitentiary, after a break in at the Jos n berg & Co. store. $60 cash, four watches, rings and a pocket knife were stolen. the pair confessed to the crime and to attempting to break into the Chateau House, with stolen items hidden nearby.

Fourth of July Celebration Planned by Red Cross in Chateau

Arrangements for the Red Cross Fourth of July celebration in Chateau are under way. A meeting last Friday appointed committees for advertising program dance floats races finance executive bowery kangaroo court side shows parade and more with multiple local volunteers named.

Red Cross Acre idea boosts county grain donations

The Red Cross War Fund committee in Conrad started a movement named the Teton county idea to secure growing grain donations. In six weeks many acres have been given to the Red Cross across the county. Donors will receive an Acre pledge sign in each field to arouse patriotic spirit and advertise the community.
