Volunteers Build Up Local Baseball Field on Volunteer Basis
A volunteer group from Chateau transformed an uneven lot west of the new high school into a potential top baseball field. Led by G. C. Core, about twenty men hauled forty loads of clay with county and Montana Transfer Company trucks, cleared brush, filled a ditch, and graded the outfield. Infield work will continue with sand, then wetting and rolling. Bleachers are not planned this year due to funds. The site will also serve as a football and athletic field, with players allowed access to school gym baths in return for service.
