Address by Dr Hedger at Women’s Camp on Child Welfare

Dr Hedger of the Elizabeth McCormick Memorial Foundation lectured on child welfare at the Chateau Women’s Camp in Teton county. She urged a three sided partnership among parents schools and communities for fitness nutrition sleep and infection control while praising youth groups but stressing individual welfare and urged school nurse support. Local attendance included Chateau residents and county agent Robert Clarkson noted the camp’s success in bringing her to the three day event with musical interludes enhancing the program.

Grand Officers Visit Local Pythian Sisters in Choteau

Chevalier Lodge No 12 and Pythian Sisters Chateau hosted Mrs W J Cummings Grand Chief Montana and Mrs Price Deputy Grand Chief Great Falls for a formal visit Monday evening after the regular meeting. The guests were honored at a banquet prepared by Choteau chapter members following the dispatch of business.

Teton County High seeks dormitory matron applicants

Last Saturday July 21 the Teton County High School board met to discuss September openings but with some members absent no action was taken on hiring teachers. The dormitory opening was discussed and no decision made. The board invites inservice training and applications for dormitory matron to be filed with Clerk of the Board County Superintendent Edythe Saylor.

Jury Acquits Mrs Parker in Stray Stock Case

A jury in C H Ferris court returned a verdict of acquittal for Mrs Grover Parker after hearing Rob ert Fairburn allege she recovered a band of sheep strays without notifying him or arranging payment of costs and damages. The case centered on alleged unlawful recovery of strayed stock.

Eighth grade commencement draws crowd in Teton county

Teton county held its first eighth grade commencement at the high school last Saturday evening. About 150 children, parents and friends attended despite threatening weather and farm work causing some to miss. County superintendent Mrs. Saylor praised the event and predicted it could become an annual, successful affair. A musical program preceded A. B. Guthrie's address and diplomas were presented at the close.

Death of Wm Reinig noted at Wolf Creek ranch

Word arrived Wednesday of the sudden death of William Reinig at his ranch near Wolf Creek. A former Power-Mogan Co. apprentice mechanic and veteran of World War I, he reportedly died of a heart attack linked to war injuries. Burial was at Stearns cemetery near his home. He had received government disability compensation and lived in Choteau as a vocational training man, beloved by many friends.

Character Motuskoff Arrested After Drunken Slump in Billings

George Motuskoff was arrested Wednesday evening on a drunkenness charge. Found comatose in the back office of station No. 1 after being released earlier that day on a $10 fine for drunkenness, he had a prior $10 fine last week. He had gained notoriety as a state witness in a liquor case during the last jury term, where he brandished a gun in a crowded lobby before being released after justice court hearing.

Rainfall Totals Near Two Inches In Short Storms

Heavy rains Tuesday afternoon and yesterday morning produced 1.89 inches in under three hours, setting a Teton County record. Tuesday hail mixed with rain caused little damage.
