The Department convention of the American Legion and its Auxiliary met in Great Falls July 12 14. Delegates included Mrs Cal Southard Mrs Gordon Monkman and Mrs George R Higgins with Mrs Monkman serving as Civil Defense page. Rosalie Richert won first place in the poppy poster contest and Corrine Baker took second. both posters advance to national competition. Debits in Ninth Federal Reserve District cities rose 13 percent in June from a year earlier with a 16 percent six month gain. Montana posted a 1 percent June decline though six month totals rose 6 percent from 1967. Debits reflect checks and fund transfers against checking accounts and exclude interbank and government or savings account debits.

Liquor sales in Teton County for the quarter ending June 30 totaled 1330.09 with four percent county license tax. One percent stays with the county and three percent goes to city treasurers. Chateau reports 14,958.25 in sales with 448.75 tax, Dutton 6,657.79 with 199.73 tax, Fairfield 11,636.25 with 349.09 tax.
