State Farmers Union President Speaks at County Park Picnic

Montana Farmers Union President Gordon Tweet urged protection of farm coops at the county picnic in Chateau Park. He warned against efforts to take over REAs and noted the Consumer’s Council formed to fight electricity and gas rate hikes by Montana Power Company. Petitions seek denial of the rate request, arguing returns are adequate. Tweet also warned about the Chain Store Relief Act's tax impact and cautioned on additional sales taxes before the public. The event included a potluck dinner and a band, with reports on county and state camps and encampment attendees from Great Falls College.
