Loco Giants on Exhibition At Reading Tracks
The Baldwin Locomotive Works built two Mallet articulated locomotives now on display on the Reading tracks near Broad Street. Capable of pulling about 95,000 pounds with a 430000 pound engine and 600000 pound train, they are designed for steep grades and sharp curves. The two-section boiler and separable design ease repairs and shipment west to the Southern Pacific.
