End of GI Training Arrives Next Week for WWII Vets
The Veterans Administration reminds World War II GI trainees that July 25, 1956, ends the program for all but a few veterans. Those who enlisted in 1945–46 and were later exempt have nine years from end of enlistment to finish GI training. The deadline targets WWII trainees only, not Korean GI Bill participants. Since inception, over 7.8 million veterans have benefited, with a peak of 2.5 million in classrooms in 1947.
