Death of Mrs Ellen Jane Fischer After Pneumonia
Mrs Ellen Jane Fischer 74 died Sunday afternoon from pneumonia and a heart ailment after arriving from Hamilton to visit her daughter Mrs H B Swanson. Born May 5 1864 in Paisley Ontario she lived in Ireland Canada and Montana. She is survived by daughters Mrs George See and Mrs H B Swanson and son W H Fischer. Funeral arrangements were being made in Hamilton with services to be held in Helena.

Charles H. Connor, a longtime local, welcomed his daughter in law Mrs V S Connor and Mary Jane from San Jose with her son Earl Crawford and family arriving last Saturday. Crawford Sr. seeks to dispose of his T S Gap farm while Mrs Crawford’s health kept her home. Earl, a California teacher once principal of the town’s grade school, is well known to older residents as Lillian Connor’s brother.

Larson's wool clip led the Teton county market with 21 cents a pound, bought by Hilliard & Sons of Boston. Paul Kropp's car sold at 20 cents to Leo Daley for Winslow & Co. of Boston. Major local buyer Phil J. Cole for Dewey Gould & Co. of Boston shipped 25 cars, five from Chateau. Other points included Cut Bank, Browning, Conrad, Chester, Pendrey, Bynum and Blackfoot. Dry weather boosted flockmast er activity and shedding is reported finished.

Payments to Teton County farmers from AAA agencies for range and soil conservation and sugar beet benefits totaled 147 243.54 in 1937, distributed to about 700 landowners. About 1600 work sheets were filed last year with 500 non compliant, while this year roughly 1800 sheets have been filed for conservation or range programs. A check will soon be made on 1938 compliance at the soil conservation office.

Conservation Committee to Meet Friday and Saturday
Scott H. Harrison of the state soil conservation office at Bozeman will meet with the Teton county soil conservation committee on Friday and Saturday. The two day session arises from Mr. Harrison’s visit and about 50 appeals from local farmers may be discussed. The committee, now housed in the former Citizens State Bank location, is chaired by W. Duck Season Is Extended To Forty Five Days
The biological survey announced in Washington that the duck season will run 45 days this fall an increase of 15 days over the past three years. In the intermediate zone including Montana the period is Oct 15 to Nov 28 with a daily bag of 10 ducks and a possession limit of 20. Hunters may take a few canvasbacks ruddy redhead and bufflehead ducks now allowed for limited shooting.

Prominent Coast Band Man Visits Chateau Roots Loosen
Mr and Mrs Lawrence P Jackson arrive from Portland to renew relatives in Choteau and revisit musical roots. Their son Mr Jackson Jr built a noted Portland music career since 1930 and directed Brownings High School Indian band before teaching in two Portland schools. The family plans a brief stay before returning to Portland.

Mere Brook Trout For Local Waters Sun River Stocked
Approximately 16 000 eastern brook trout were planted last Tuesday in Spring Creek and in beaver dams on the Teeton river near Choteau. Phil Bottler and Teton County Sportsmen officials distributed the stock, with fish 2 to 3 inches long in good condition. Earlier in the month Bottler helped plant about 10 000 rainbow trout below Sun River Diversion dam, government stock. In May 25 000 5 inch rainbows were released in the same waters. More eastern brook and rainbows to arrive from the Great Falls hatchery later.

The unofficial primary tallies show Otto Wagnild winning unopposed as assessor with the largest vote. Under the system in this state the party mix attracted voters from both sides. Total turnout neared two thirds of registered voters with key races including Bateman Jones and a 1352 combined tally for Billings-Dellway.
