Chateau's Open Rodeo draws full house and strong attendance
Chateau hosts its 12th annual open rodeo with a fast moving show on July Fourth drawing 2,928 paid admissions for the afternoon and a record night crowd. Horace Raty’s Square Butte stock drew praise as more than 100 rodeo contestants competed in seven events. An ambulance was called twice for injuries, including Jim Mayo who broke his ankle after a fall near the west bleachers. Continuous page note mentions continuation on Page 4.

Choteau Girl Meets Ike At Conference
Deanna Swenson of Choteau returned from Washington D C where she attended the Twenty Seventh National 4 H Conference with about 300 delegates and state leaders. A highlight was meeting President Eisenhower at the White House who joked he would call on the delegates for advice when he returned to farming. The Montana delegation was part of the event highlighting citizenship and 4 H programs.

Women Golfers Elect Officers for the Year at Choteau
Choteau lady golfers elected officers for the season at a luncheon in the Choteau clubhouse. Betty Jo Dahlin was named president and Exiith Dunckel secretary. Dahlin announced a dessert luncheon each Tuesday at 1 30 PM at the clubhouse. A Thursday potluck dinner for all golfers is set with a 5 PM chip shot contest tonight.

Trisler Rites Held at Chateau for 75 Year Old
Rev. Grant Moore led Methodist services for Jacob Steven Trisler 75 who died at his home in Chateau last Saturday. Burial followed in Bynum cemetery. Pallbearers were Boyd Stenson Jim Mullaney Ruel Golding John Peterson George McKee Wes Phillips. Born February 11 1882 in Kansas he homesteaded Gunsman Coulee west of Bynum after arriving in 1914. He later moved to Chateau in the 1930s and worked as ranch hand and laborer. He married Doris Stevens who died in 1933 and they had no children. He is survived by three brothers John Springfield Ore Emmett Colorado Springs Colo and William Chateau.
