T L Hardy of Choteau Montana reports a large luxuriously ornamented pocketbook found on the range by O Larson's sheep herd. The find invites identification with no reward offered.
Strong talk in town that Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone may enter the local area. A company representative has visited business leaders and secured contracts while focusing on exchanges in Conrad Valier and nearby towns. If built the copper circuit would run from Great Falls to Chateau to Conrad Dupuyer Shelby Sweet Grass and Cut Bank.
A widespread downpour drenched all of Teton county Sunday night into Monday, soaking the ground three inches or more. Choteau streets ran with water, auto stage service halted, and conditions left mud everywhere. The rain arrives late for some crops but should aid flax, hay, range forage, and spring grain though fall wheat benefits are small.

Lewis Savik, about 45, a prominent Bynum rancher, died early this morning from araemic poisoning after being found unconscious in a field where he had been irrigating. His partner Mr. Larson and neighbors Mrs. Bateman and McGregor attended but could not save him. He leaves a wife and four or five young children and was active on the local school board.
A Friday at 3 pm Hodgskiss hosts a meeting to organize a fire company. All signed members and Chateau residents wishing to join are urged to attend to complete organization before the 18th to submit a petition to the county commissioners for a town fire limit.
The Collins Sunday school remains well attended despite hot weather. Superintendent Mr Herzer and family are active, plans floated for a young people's meeting on Sundays. Visiting Rev G W Lutz and daughter from St Paul rent Mrs Waterman’s bungalow and will stay. Neighboring homesteaders report water finds and hope for a big crop year ahead.
A large crowd attended Choteau's Fourth celebration despite heavy rain. Music by a mixed band, an oration by Sam Stephenson, and a parade featured Uncle Sam on a pony, with races at Moore’s field and a concluding evening dance.
Rev. A. O. Oppegaard of Madison Minnesota will hold services at Farmington school house on Sunday July 10 at 11 o clock a m.

Alfred Harris of Dupuyer spends the Fourth in Choteau visiting relatives. Frank Hawley travels from the Coffey and Wellenstein ranch for the celebration.
Martin Read from Conrad visited home folk over Sunday while Ife helped his brother Harvey at the Conrad meat market. A local measure of Monday activity showed many buggies and rigs at livery barns. Robt Haymes plans to depart for Haskell Institute in Lawrence Kansas for the coming year. Frank Crone of Dupuyer joined the celebration and rekindled old school ties.
Rev. Martin Mertz of Helena passed through town Tuesday en route to the Concordia Livestock company ranch at Belleview. He is a principal stockholder in the company.
Rolland Lutz nephew of H. K. Ferris visited from his Collins area homestead for the celebration. He assisted the band during the day and is noted for prior service with the University of Minnesota band and the Second Regiment band, bringing notable experience and skill.
A note on Joe Dwyer arrives suddenly after years in Columbian Falls and Kalispell. He recently visited Philadelphia and plans to return in ten days to open a barber shop and wed, though plans may have changed.
The 1910 act allows qualified entrymen on lands planned for irrigation under the 1902 National Irrigation Act to obtain leave of absence from their entries if they show substantial improvements and water is not yet available. The absence period does not reduce residency requirements.
The Sunday observance honored children with songs drills and recitations. The program filled both auditorium and parlors as the congregation supported a fund aiding needy youths pursuing education.
