More than 800 auto licenses and 500 truck licenses issued to date, with sizable returns of used plates dating back years. A farmer turned in plates dating to 1915, the earliest on record.
Edward Savik of the Savik and Larson ranch near Bynum returned from the Denver Stock Show and Sale, sponsored by the American Hereford Association, where he bought two herd bulls for his registered Hereford herd. One bull came from the University of Nebraska and the other from P L Raben of Crawford Neb. The top price at the sale reached $7,000.

Six people were injured when a Plymouth car went into a ditch near Farmington on Sunday night. Eldon Scott owned and drove the car. Mrs. Scott Audrey Scott Mrs. Kenneth Murray Eddie Hager and Ace Powell were treated at Chateau hospital. Mrs. Scott suffered a broken foot and eye wound while Mr Scott had broken ribs. Powell and Hager had minor scalp cuts. The accident caused no apparent negligence.
In Helena on January 20 the capitol reports Montana will finish the 1941 43 biennium with a balanced budget and a surplus, despite projected revenue declines in 1943 due to federal taxes and auto rationing. The tax board noted cautious estimates, though wheat highs and strong business boosted revenues during the period.

Postmaster C. G. Monkman reports strong sales of federal automobile use stamps begun Monday. Over $400 in stamps sold, with $2.09 stickers available until Feb 28 and varying monthly prices through June 1942. Stamps transferable with vehicles and include a card to mail to the collector of internal revenue.
H M Daley head of the local tire rationing board reports six more tires and tubes issued this past week to qualified truck owners. Recipients include Roy Anderson Choteau Mrs Tom Manix Choteau A E Breere Choteau O B Neckstad Choteau Goodwin Odden Dutton and John W Anderson Bynum. Daley notes strict monthly inventory and reporting requirements for commercial operators and tire sellers under state and federal directives effective January 1942.
Mr and Mrs George Benedett who ran the Beaupre Cafe for thirteen years relinquished their lease Saturday evening. Mrs H Beaupre will operate the same with the hotel. Walter Hitchock will be in charge of the restaurant. Mrs Beaupre promises patrons cuisine will be maintained with the same high quality and efficient service as in the past.
