Three Townsend brothers Forest Hough Francis Carroll and Ivan Cottrell spent a night stranded on islands in the Missouri River near zero weather. Carroll was hospitalized for frozen feet after the ordeal as the boys raided a boat and navigated drifting ice. Sheriff and a kayak posse located the trio with Hough and Cottrell in decent condition.

Longhorn Cattle Near Extinction In Wichita Mountains Herd
Oklahoma study shows less than 250 Longhorns in the nation with about 145 on the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Cache. The herd there traces to 30 cattle moved in 1927 under forest service and later improved by removal of undesired traits and selective purchases in Mexico.
