Montana Giant near Chateau has reached 1025 feet with hard formations and water veins found at 28 and 125 feet. Koyle well planned to start within days with Marion Edwards Co drilling and 14 men on site. Agawam Standard of California well passed cave-in point at 1685 feet with 10 inch casing and ongoing drilling. Campbell well near Farmington reports progress toward 200 feet with continuous two shifts and walking beam hookup.

Tax Sales Postponed in Montana Delinquent Taxes

Helena January 17 reports delayed 1922 tax sales as a new law postpones penalties and sales until after October 1 1923. The governor signed the act after approval by taxation committees and government officials with one senator dissenting on constitutionality. Refunds may be claimed by June 1 1923 for paid 1922 taxes.

A Burton Bench rancher reports December net of 46.20 from 134 Leghorn hens after 1217 eggs produced, 63.10 gross sales, and 16.80 feed costs. The flock’s housing uses county agent supplied facilities and daily rations include wheat oats sour milk greens meat and oyster shell. Yeggs Blow Safe In Dutton Post Office

Thieves burglarized the Dutton post office sometime Sunday night removing $264 in cash and stamps. The alarm did not wake residents, no clues found, and investigators noted glove use left no fingerprints. Sheriff Wm. Reiquam and Post Office Inspector Cooney led the probe with no solid leads.

Fort Shaw suffered defeats in both Saturday high school basketball games against the Teton teams. The girls and boys squads were edged on Fort Shaw’s floor. A Thursday night program at the high school auditorium showcases French and Commercial class acts to raise funds for district contest travel.

Aged Inmate of County Farm Dies at 75

Lachlan McTavish, 75, inmate at the county poor farm, died Tuesday at Choteau hospital after six weeks of illness. He was buried in Choteau cemetery at ten this morning. He had lived at the county farm for years with few known relatives, aside from connections in Scotland.
