Wallace Taylor of ST stock ranch dies in Portland
Cyrus Wallace Taylor a pioneer of Teton county and member of the Sands and Taylor cattle firm known as ST ranch died in Portland Oregon from heart failure. He was 75 and had long managed operations from 1879, later serving as Teton county's first commissioner and as sheriff. He moved to Seattle after a daughter’s illness and returned to Montana in 1924 to join the Jack Burke ranch near Augusta.

Martinsdale Man Wm McCrorie Dies After Illness
William McCrorie Jr., 54, brother of Peter McCrorie and Mrs Jane Trainor, died Sunday at his parents’ Martinsdale home after years of illness. Born in Scotland in 1877, he later lived in Pennsylvania and North Dakota before Montana. He worked for the Great Northern Railway and earlier in hotels, and belonged to the Odd Fellows. Survived by his parents, his wife in Omaha, eight brothers and sisters.

Elmer Smith will move from treasurer to assist in the assessor’s office as Wayne Wagnild begins drafting assessment lists. The March 1 start sets the schedule for 1932 assessments.

County Clerk Geo A Carroll reports births totaled 62 in 1931, down from 75 in 1930, with 31 boys and 31 girls. Deaths were 40, including 29 men and 11 women, with some deaths recorded outside the county. The marriage license book shows 78 licenses issued, eight divorces filed, five decrees granted, and four actions pending. Foreclosures led civil actions with 27 filings. total filings in 1931 dropped, and weather records note 1931 as the warmest year on record with 8.98 inches of precipitation.

Petition to Reject Bus Route in Glacier Park Region
Residents and businessmen in Chateau circulated a petition urging the railroad commission at Helena to deny Laverne Miller of Cut Bank a certificate of convenience and necessity to run a Glacier Park to Great Falls bus line. They argue rail service suffices, no demand justifies the bus, and a new service would burden railroads. The signers say they favor buses only with normal demand and when integrated with rail service.
